The Directors team take a look at another of the all-time greats. Bursting into the public consciousness with the classic anti-hero story Taxi Driver starring Robert De Niro, Scorsese would maintain a partnership with De Niro that would span the best part of five decades, generating critic’s poll-topping films like Raging Bull, The King of Comedy, Goodfellas, Cape Fear and most recently The Irishman.
More recently he’s also worked with Leonardo DiCaprio to huge success in what has become a showcase for the genres he has mastered, beginning with Gangs of New York in 2002 and continuing with biopic The Aviator, psychological thriller Shutter Island, strangerthan- fiction comedy The Wolf of Wall Street, and gangster thriller The Departed – which won Scorsese his first, and only, Academy Award for Best Director to date.
