Mo Farah may have retired from the stadium, but he still taking part in marathon, or in this case half-marathon events.
Farah will be one of over 55,000 people taking part in the race in Tyneside. Last year he became the first person to win the event three times in a row and will be planning on winning it for the fourth time. There will also be the thousands taking part of hundreds of different charities.
On a local note, before the event there will be a minute’s applause for the recently deceased Mike Neville, a newsreader who became the face of news in North East England since the 1950s, and a man who will be sadly missed by us who live in the region.
The Great North Run is on BBC One at 9.30, and repeated at 18.00 on BBC Two.
