Preview – The Handmaid’s Tale

Elisabeth Moss

After a disturbing yet impressive first episode that left a lasting impression on viewers, Channel 4’s The Handmaid’s Tale continues tonight.

Based on the award-winning novel by Margaret Atwood, the story follows the twisted ruling of a fundamentalist regime in Gilead that treats women as property of the state. Most shocking because of its remarkable possibility and resemblance to the current state of the US, Offred (Elisabeth Moss) was ripped away from her daughter and sent to the Commanderís household where she must assist them in producing a child.

Tonight Offred and her fellow Handmaids assist with the delivery of Janine’s baby, prompting Offred to recall her own daughter’s birth. Offred draws closer to Ofglen, while dreading a secret meeting with the Commander.
