A show that constantly made headline news last year, The Jump, presented by Davina McCall, returned to channel at the weekend, with 14 new contestants taking to the snow to prove they’ve got what it takes to make the jump.
With no less than 7 contestants pulling out last year due to injuries they obtained during filming, the show’s safety procedures were seriously questioned. However, even with the improved safety measures, the new series is off to a rocky start with model Vogue Williams, having to pull out with a knee injury before the first episode aired.
This year Davina is joined by Bradley Wiggins, Spencer Matthews, Robbie Fowler, Caprice, Jade Jones, Louis Smith, Kadeena Cox, Lydia Bright, Mark Dolan, Vogue Williams, Jason Robinson, Gareth Thomas, Josie Gibson and Emma Parker Bowles stepping up to the challenge.
In the first episode the celebrities participate in one of the most famous Alpine events, the parallel slalom, where competitors will go head-to-head to race down the slopes as quickly as possible, dodging the gates as they go. The loser of each race will then have to face The Jump live – the person with the worst jump will be eliminated.
Although, if the show is to continue in a similar fashion to its predecessor, there might not be enough celebrities left injury free to face the drastic jump.
