Just over a year ago the horror-comedy sketch group returned to the BBC to make some shows marking their 20th anniversary. After that, they returned to the stage for a live tour.
This programme airs just one half of their show. The first half featured Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith performing as they originally did for years – in tuxedos. This BBC airing shows the second half, in costume as their most famous characters.
It begins where the anniversary specials left off – with Tubbs having being kidnapped by Papa Lazarou, who has turned Royston Vasey into a “wife mine”. Edward promises to rescue his wife (and sister) in song. Also in the show include cursed vet Mr. Chinnery operating on a panda, we attend the funeral of Pauline Campbell-Jones, and the audience get a very graphic German lesson from Herr Lipp.
The League of Gentlemen: Live Again! is on BBC Two at 22.00.
