Possibly the most predictable awards on British TV are presented tonight by Dermot O’Leary.
Given that Ant and Dec always win in their categories every year, you have to wonder why they even bother having a public vote in the first place. If there is going to be an award of interest, it will be in the “Serial Drama” category, with Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks fighting each other out.
The “Comedy” category may also be interesting, given that Mrs. Brown’s Boys, the most popular sitcom on TV, isn’t in the running. All Round to Mrs. Brown’s is in the “Entertainment” category, but it won’t win because it is up against Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
The National Television Awards are on ITV at 19.30.
