The theme this week is family heirlooms, as we see Jay Blades and the team bring three treasured family keepsakes back to life, as well as the memories they hold.
A much-missed father’s old sitar was accidentally broken, leaving kids Kesar and Parveen to (literally) pick up the pieces… Jay invites our new expert Kaviraj Singh to the barn to work at fixing this Indian stringed instrument.
Music holds memory, and the siblings are moved to tears when they are finally able to play the lovingly restored instrument.
Leather expert Suzie Fletcher gets to grips with an iconic flying jacket that was worn by a brave RAF Spitfire pilot during the Second World War. Now his grandson longs to wear the cherished item and pass it on to his fledgling family when they grow up.
And mechanical maestro Steve Fletcher works his magic on a damaged mechanical toy bird that has lost its tweet. With its wounded wing and broken bellows, it is a tricky task to get the little bird twirling and tweeting once again.
