Preview – The Rise of Female Violence

Rise of female violence

With so much made of male violence, particularly in regards to violence committed against the opposite, is there any validity in the notion that modern society has different attitudes to violence when it comes to males and females respectively?

With violent offenses committed by females skyrocketting, BBC reporter Alys Harte looks at the rising number of women who are involved in violence; from teenage girl gangs to women who beat their partners, this documentary aims to explore and dispell myths surrounding the often overlooked subject. Using social experiments to gauge public reactions, this eye-opening film focuses on our deeply ingrained attitudes and proposes the question; Are girls getting angrier and, if so, why?

Originally shown on BBC3 in October 2015, The Rise of Female Violence will broadcast this Wednesday at 9:00pm on London Live.
