‘Oumuamua (a Hawaiian word meaning “messenger”) was the very first object from interstellar space to enter the solar system.

This cigar-shaped object is thus being studied, mainly by academics from Queen’s University Belfast, to try and find out more secrets about this mysterious thing, such as if it could contain life, and where did it originally came from.

The Sky at Night is on BBC Four at 22.00.
