To mix things up in 2017 there is a new home design presenter duo on the scene. Architect Piers Taylor (The House That £100k Built) and actress and property developer enthusiast Caroline Quentin, join forces to bring us the most breathtaking homes in the new BBC documentary, The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes.
Using the latest building methods and technology, and with a seemingly endless budget, these architects and home owners go where no Grand Design has gone before.
Episode one of four sees the pair head into the mountains in search of homes that have expertly used their surrounding to create astonishing functioning homes. They visit a house that cleverly incorporates parts of disused aircraft into the walls in the Santa Monica Mountains of California, a house that fits so perfectly into the Arizona desert that it’s hard to imagine the landscape without it, a cedar cladding camouflaged home in New Zealand and a alpine chalet that in anchored into the mountain by its chimney.
