We all know Philip Larkin thanks to his poetry, but he also had a fondness for photography.

In this programme that first aired on BBC One in Yorkshire and last week, Through the Lens of Larkin tells his life through his photos, which include a surprisingly large amount of self-portraits.

The poet and academic John Wedgwood Clarke goes through Larkin’s archive in Hull, the city he worked in as the university’s librarian, to examine the live and the loves of the great man.

Through the Lens of Larkin is on BBC Four at 19.30.
