The Channel 5 exposé series which pits its host, Paul Connolly against the world of fraud – a crime that has reached epidemic levels in modern Britain – returns for it second series this year, having already tackled Phishing scams and Boiler Room bilking. Connolly knows forged documents are big business, from fake P45s and passports to bank statements and even gun licenses; this show explores it all.
This week, Connolly is up against those who take advantage of loneliness and many a Briton’s quest for love in the murky world of online dating, exploring the pitfalls of some major sites. The host then goeso n to expose the world of “catfishing” – a practice by which somebody on the internet creates and adopts a fictional persona in order to get close to another – and predators who use a false sense of romance and intimacy to lead their victims into blackmail situations.
