The latest edition of Sky Arts series of comedy dramas is the one set furthest back in history of any of the tales so far, dealing as it does with Charles Dickens.
Stephen Mangan plays the role of Dickens, who in 1857 received an unexpected house guest in the form of Hans Christian Andersen (Ian Hart). While Andersen was a big fan of Dickens, unfortunately for Dickens it transpired that Andersen was a truly horrible guest. Legend has it that after the Danish fairy tale writer left, Dickens wrote a message in a mirror in the guest bedroom reading: “Hans Andersen slept in this room for five weeks – which seemed to the family AGES!”
