Bob Hope & Virginia Mayo in The Princess and the Pirate (1944). Turner Classic Movies, INC. A time warner company. All rights reserved.

Bob Hope is still one of the most well-known names in entertainment. Most famous for his Road To films with Bing Crosby, his solo career also includes many brilliant comedies.

Teamed alongside Virginia Mayo, The Princess and the Pirate has Hope is his traditional coward-turned-hero role, with Mayo as a Princess running away from an arranged marriage.

This film is a hidden gem from the legendary Bob Hope, which I highly recommend to both fans and those unfamiliar with his work. Look out for the Bing Crosby cameo!

The Princess and the Pirate is on Talking Pictures TV at 16.00.
