For the first time, a dedicated covert police unit has allowed cameras to film a secret investigation into a human trafficking gang. This series – which was embedded with surveillance and undercover officers for three years – tracks an organised crime group as they traffic women from South America to work as prostitutes in UK brothels. In the last episode of this international crime thriller, the police are in the final stages of their operation. The head of the organised crime group has fled to Spain and thinks he’s out of reach. What he doesn’t know is that the British police are working in tandem with their Spanish counterparts. Before they can strike they need to prove the human trafficking case against him in the UK. But the clock is ticking. At any moment he might slip the net and flee to Brazil, where the police might never catch him. In South America we meet Silvia, a woman who was previously trafficked to the UK by a separate criminal gang. She’s in such a desperate financial position in Brazil that she’s considering returning to the UK to go through it all again.
