Idris Elba, Richard Madden and Charlotte Le Bon star in writer-director James Watkins’ crime thriller. American pickpocket in Paris Michael Mason (Madden) has been busy fleecing the night-time crowds when he snatches an upmarket shopping bag from a distracted Zoe Naville (Le Bon). Discovering that the bag’s contents are worthless – apart from a mobile phone, which he pockets – Michael dumps the bag beside some bins. But, as he walks away, the bag explodes, killing bystanders. The bomb was intended to damage the empty offices of the French Nationalist Party, but, when she discovered that out-of-hours cleaners were working there, anti-fascist protester Zoe aborted the mission and was trying to safely dispose of the bomb. Violent, impulsive and misanthropic CIA agent Sean Briar (Elba) is soon on the case, and his investigation, which co-opts both Michael and Zoe, uncovers a ruthless conspiracy. With Kelly Reilly as Briar’s CIA boss and José Garcia as the director of the French security services.
