James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe star in director Paul McGuigan’s Gothic drama. One chilly evening in Victorian London, at Lord Barnaby’s Circus and Menagerie, the beautiful trapeze artist Lorelei (Jessica Brown Findlay) suffers life-threatening injury when she falls during her act. Two young men rush to her rescue. One of them is the circus’s clown; a cowed and chronically abused hunchback (Radcliffe), who has no name, but possesses deep and abiding passions for medicine and anatomy – and for Lorelei. The other is the medical student Victor Frankenstein (McAvoy), who is immediately impressed by the wretch’s medical knowledge and his application of it. Needing a gifted assistant for his radical experiments in biology and anatomy, Frankenstein steals the clown away from the circus and names him Igor. Together they embark on the horrific, eventful path that will eventually earn them worldwide notoriety. With Daniel Mays, Andrew Scott, Callum Scott, Freddie Fox, Charles Dance and Mark Gatiss.
