FIFA World Cup 2022 - Wales v England

Wales v England at a World Cup with the future advancement of the Welsh hanging in the balance. You couldn’t make it up could you? The first appearance at a World Cup in 64 years and Wales face the prospect of being packing by England. Actually, as soon as the group was drawn this was in the tea leaves.

Gary Lineker presents live coverage of the huge ‘local derby’ out there in Qatar.

The Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium is the stage for the teams’ final match in Group B and history is on Gareth Southgate’s side – the Three Lions have won all six of their meetings with Wales since the turn of the millennium, including a 2-1 victory at Euro 2016.

The Welsh are appearing in their first World Cup since 1958 and must block out the negativity of the past two games and focus on delivering three points tonight. There is still the outcome of the other equally fractious Group B game between USA and Iran that could decide who progresses. For Rob Page and Wales the goal is clear. Win! Win lucky. Win ugly.

Commentary comes from Guy Mowbray and Danny Gabbidon.
