If you make a successful film in a foreign language, then it’s likely to picked up for an English remake. Such was the case with The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Let The Right One In and the forthcoming remake of Troll Hunter.
Before Drive, Nicolas Winding Refn made his name with The Pusher Trilogy and so it’s no surprise to find an English language version due to hit our screens in May. The remake is directed by Luis Prieto and stars a British cast featuring Agyness Deyn, Richard Coyle, Bronson Webb and Paul Kaye.
Those might not be household names but the project’s leant credence by the involvement of Winding Refn himself, who’s serving as a producer.
The plot remains largely unchanged with the action relocating to London from Cophenhagen. Richard Coyle plays Frank a dealer who thinks he’s found the score of a lifetime, but has to ditch the stash when the police show up. This leads to a rather unsympathetic crime boss to get involved (Zlatko Buric reprising the role he had in the original movies).
