Filmed during the autumn of 2020, the award-winning documentary series follows patients treated in the same 24-hour period at St George’s in south west London. The hospital has one of the busiest A&E departments in Britain – a place where stories of life, love and loss unfold every day. This episode looks at how, when we are in need, support can come from a range of different people in our lives. Mick was home alone when he fell and broke two bones in his ankle. His late wife’s friend Carol rushed to his aid. Doctors are not only concerned about the damage to Mick’s ankle but also the reason why the 74-year-old fell in the first place. Carol speaks about the loss of Mick’s wife and how her memory is something they both treasure. Thirty-two-year-old Naomi collides in a game of mixed rugby, sustaining a blow to her neck. While doctors scan for spinal damage, Naomi describes her issues with mental health. Also, 53-year-old art teacher Christophe is knocked off his bicycle and explains how he has dealt with some shocking news about the love of his life.
