Though the franchise may seem slightly tired in terms of its gags and plot , Pitch Perfect 3 still has what it takes to evoke the enjoyment and camaraderie, loosely resembling an energetic karaoke night. The a cappella cast, including Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Hailee Steinfeld, essentially give fans of the franchise what they’ve already fallen in love with in the previous two films; an easy to follow – if a little contrived – plot, a couple of laughs and enough a cappella singing to satisfy your every craving.
The plot of Pitch Perfect 3 revolves around the individual members of the Barden Bellas – a now renowned a cappella group, formed in college, who were the protagonists of the first two movies – as, after three years apart, they get on with their adult lives following their graduations. The ladies find themselves drawn together, however, at the behest of Emily – a younger Bella who now leads the all-female college a cappella group. Deciding to come together for one last hoorah as a group, the girls find themselves embroiled in romance, stardom and fierce competition in Spain which – after one member of the group accidentally disgraces the others – could leave their musical dreams in tatters.
Pitch Perfect 3 – Friday 8:00pm on Sky Premiere.
