Ceaselessly entertaining juvenile humour starring Mary Steenburgen and Richard Jenkins as older divorcees who find happiness and love in their blossoming relationship. Unfortunately, they each have a spoiled, live-at-home, man-child for a son, which can only mean trouble when the two families live under one roof.
Will Ferrell and John C Reilly play the infantile thirtysomethings who make the lives of their parents/stepparents a misery in this superior comedy from Adam McKay. It ticks all the boxes in terms of inappropriate situation comedy with a liberal helping of gross-out humour to help things along.
Pointless, dumb, stupid – call it what you will – if there’s a male equivalent to the ‘chick flick’ this is probably it.
Stepbrothers – Thursday 9.00pm on Comedy Central.
