The Godfather

Widely recognised as one of the greatest films ever made and the story from which the glamorised world of hollywood mob culture sprouted, The Godfather, starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Robert Duval and James Caan, has stood the test of time making this classic an instant favourite even to this day. The film is directed by the acclaimed Francis Ford Coppola.

The story, based on the plot of Mario Puzo’s novel of the same name, revolves around the Corleone crime family. The Corleones, led by Michael (Al Pacino) and his father – and godfather of the entire syndicate – Don Vito (Brando), preside over the New York criminal underworld until one christmas, they are approached by a drug  baron backed by a rival family, the Tattaglias. As the tensions between the Tattaglias and the Corleones escalates and vendettas are made, Don Vito finds his whole operation under threat as all five New York crime families prepare for all-out war.
