Daniel Kaluuya and Allison Williams star in writer-director Jordan Peele’s horror (whose script won Peele an Oscar). Photographer Chris Washington (Kaluuya) and his girlfriend Rose Armitage (Williams) are spending the weekend at her parents’ place in upstate New York. He’s uncomfortable about the trip, as she has told him that he’s her first Black boyfriend but hasn’t shared that fact with her parents. His discomfort isn’t helped by his friend Rod’s (Lil Rel Howery) cheery advice not to visit a White girl’s parents, nor the deer they hit while driving through the countryside, nor the racist policeman they also encounter on the way. However, Dean and Missy Armitage (Bradley Whitford and Catherine Keener) welcome Chris to their large, isolated house – even if Rose’s brother Jeremy (Caleb Landry Jones) is drunkenly boorish, and the behaviour of the family’s Black staff (Marcus Henderson and Betty Gabriel) is distinctly odd. But the atmosphere turns increasingly bizarre the following day, when guests arrive for the Armitages’ annual get together, before becoming downright terrifying as Chris starts to piece together the clues around him.
