Art historian Andrew Graham-Dixon presents this four-part look at one of Britain’s most prestigious art collections: the Royal Collection, owned by the Queen.

This programme covers not just the art that is in the collection, but the story of the monarchs who have tried to expand the collection, which began with Henry VIII who believed that great art projects power. Graham-Dixon later moves onto the greatest of the collectors, Charles I, whose collecting was somewhat hampered by the Civil War.

Art, Passion & Power is on BBC Four at 21.00.
