Britain's Greatest Hoaxer

Continuing Channel 4’s Fake News Week, this documentary looks at how the comedian Simon Brodkin has found fame (and possibly infamy among some people) with his hoaxes.

While Brodkin first found fame as a character comedian, most famously with his chavtastic creation Lee Nelson, more recently he has making the news for a wide range of attention grabbing stunts, often in character: as Nelson, he managed to sneak his way onto the Glastonbury stage when Kanye West was performing on it; as his Premier League footballer character Simon Bent he threw a bribe at FIFA president Sepp Blatter; and he’s given swastika decorated golf balls to Donald Trump when he was visiting his golf course in Scotland.

This documentary looks at how Brodkin plans his stunts, and his various brushes with the law that have resulted in them.

Britain’s Greatest Hoaxer is on Channel 4 at 22.00.
