This two-part documentary takes a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on inside “the Old Lady of Threadneedle Street”.

Among the things we get to witness is how the bank stores gold reserves from across the world, and we meet Victoria Cleland, aka “The Money Lady”, whose signature is on every banknote the Bank of England produces, including some the public never get to see.

However, the obvious element in the programme is how the Bank is trying to cope with Brexit, with governor Mark Carney trying to calculate the risks of leaving the EU, especially in the event of there being no deal.

Inside the Bank of England is on BBC Two at 21.30.
