The first in a two-part series looks at the origins of one of world’s classic aeroplanes: the Boeing 747.
Having been commissioned by Pan Am to make 25 planes that were twice as big as anything else in the world at the time, Boeing had to construct the lane in what was then the world’s largest building. Even then, some wondered if a double-decker plane could even fly at all. The doubters were proved wrong.
