Veteran American Hollywood star Richard Gere ends his 30-year long absence from the small screen as he stars in BBC Two’s scarily prescient drama series, MotherFatherSon.
Gere takes the lead role as self-made media mogul, Max Finch, while the likes of Helen McCrory and Billy Howle also star as his close – if a little dysfunctional – family. Penny Dreadful’s Danny Sapani and Happy Valley’s Sarah Lancashire become political adversaries, Prime Minister Jahan and hard-line opposition leader Angela Howard – both of whom try to win Max’s favour and support to aide them in an upcoming general election.
The series sees Max Finch struggle to keep his media empire and reputations above water after his son’s self-destructive life-style comes back to haunt him. In tonight’s premiere, the fractured Finch family – at the heart of politics and power – is forced back together after the effects of years of depravity and substance abuse catch up with their son and heir, Caden. But Max’s world waits for no-one – not even his family – and the mogul fights to balance his responsibilities as a father with the lucrative opportunities which are opening up to him.
MotherFatherSon – Wednesday 9:00pm on BBC Two.
