The premier league’s best and brightest return this weekend with a whole host of superstars, both old and new, looking to light up the top flight as we kick the 2019/20 season off this weekend.
Opening proceedings this time around is a clash of the champions; last season’s championship winners, Norwich City, face off against 2019’s champions league winners, Liverpool.
Having narrowly missed out on the Community Shield to rivals Manchester City last weekend, Jurgen Klopp’s Reds will be keen to get their domestic campaign off to a strong start as they aim to go one better than last season in pursuit of their first league title in 30 years. But will things be plain sailing for the European champions, or could the Canaries pull off an Anfield upset and scupper the Reds’ title challenge before it’s even begun?
In the Norwich camp, Daniel Farke’s championship victors will be raring to get their first Premier League campaign since they were relegated in 2016 off to a positive start – but opening games don’t come much harder than this and the German’s charges could be in for a trial by fire on Merseyside. After a busy transfer window, will the Canaries be up to the challenge?
Liverpool vs. Norwich City – Friday 8:00pm on Sky Sports.
