The past academic year might have been the most challenging period in living memory. Pupils have juggled lockdown’s, testing and exam chaos, and a social life in a time where social contact is forbidden.

In the Midlands town Dudley, the Link Academy braved the cameras to document this unprecedented time. The school’s Year 11s were given cameras of their own to record their final year with personal video diaries.

The pupils speak of their ambitions and optimism for the future, worry about GCSEs, mixed with their anxiety about the potential longer-term consequences of such a turbulent year.

In this episode, as the Christmas holidays approach, there are only six months left of school and the students are anxious about the impact the national lockdown will have on their ambitions for the future.

The whole series is available on All 4, to stream or download for free, following transmission of episode one on Thurs Aug 26.
