We are back at the Crucible Theatre as the World Snooker Championship returns to our screens.
Currently in the No. 1 spot is last year’s champion Mark Williams. “The Welsh Potting Machine” was a surprise victor of the tournament, becoming the second oldest person ever to win the trophy. He also carried out his promise of conducting a press conference interview naked after winning, so imagine what will happen if he wins again. He begins his defence of the title by playing Martin Gould.
Of course, No. 2 seed Ronnie O’Sullivan is also the other main attraction, but he is facing someone else to keep an eye for: James Cahill, the first amateur to qualify for the main tournament. Talk about a baptism of fire.
The World Championships begin on BBC Two at 10.00, continuing on BBC One at 13.15 and BBC Two again at 16.30. Extra coverage is on the BBC Red Button.
