We're Going on a Bear Hunt

When it comes to Channel 4 and Christmas, their most famous contribution has been their short, one-off animations: we all remember classics like The Snowman and Father Christmas.

This time around, a work by Michael Rosen is being adapted. We’re Going on a Bear Hunt follows a family whose mother (Olivia Colman) is away visiting the family’s recently widowed grandmother. While she is away, the father (Mark Williams) takes their four children Stanley (Macready Massey), Katie (Heather Shaw), Rosie (Elsie Cavalier) and Max the baby (Edward Osborn Latta), along with Rufus the dog to find a bear (Rosen, who narrates the story).

The family face all kinds of obstacles as they try to “catch a big one”, but will they be able to find their beast?

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt is on Christmas Eve at 19.30, with a three-part making of documentary on at 09.10, then 07.10 and 11.15 on Christmas Day.
