Laibach are an avant-garde rock group from Slovenia (originally Yugoslavia), noted for using totalitarian imagery in their work. Perhaps it is not surprising that Laibach became the first western rock band to play North Korea.

This Storyville episode follows the band as they prepare for a concert on Liberation Day (the day the country was freed from Japanese occupation), but the band have to deal with North Korea’s strict laws, cultural differences and technological issues.

When Rock Arrived in North Korea: Liberation Day is on BBC Four at 23.00.
